Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has sought the Centre's help to train panchayat heads in the state.
"The JK government has approached the Centre for training 1,000 panchs and sarpanchs in the state," Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar said after inaugurating a five-day orientation course for newly-elected panchs and sarpanchs at Budgam in central Kashmir yesterday.
He said the state government has so far organised 850 orientation courses since last year across JK to impart training to 33,847 panchs and sarpanchs of 4,128 panchayat constituencies. PTI
