Karnataka enter final of National Men's Hockey



Bhopal: Karnataka entered the final of Hockey India's first National Men's Hockey Championship after beating Punjab 2-1 here today.Karnataka defender Raghunath converted a penalty corner in the 10th minute to give his team a lead over Punjab, and also became the top scorer of the tournament with 11 goals.

 

 

At the breather, Karnataka led by one goal. However, as soon as the match restarted, Punjab bounced back and Dharamvir Singh sounded the board for the equaliser. At the 37th minute, Punjab made a spectacular move, but Manpreeet Singh failed to captialise on it. Karnataka's Hariprasad finally found the target in the 46th minute. In the second semifinal, Jharkhand will take on Haryana. The final match of the Championship will be played on Monday. (PTI)
