Bangalore: Seven-time World champion Pankaj Advani is auctioning his time during the 'Joy of Giving Week' to raise funds for Bangalore based NGO -- Children's Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA).
Driven by his desire to contribute to the society, Advani is helping the organisation reach out to a greater number of students. "For the democratic set-up to function effectively, it is essential for individuals to be aware of their rights, duties and responsibilities. CMCA works towards educating and encouraging the citizens of tomorrow to make a positive impact on the society that they live in," said the reigning national Snooker champion.
CMCA is an 11-year-old volunteer driven, civil society organisation that conducts a national 'civic club' programme in schools across India. Over the past year, CMCA has, through 284 volunteers, reached 19,000 children in six cities, 324 schools and 399 civic clubs.
During the 'Joy of Giving Week', fans will have a chance to bid to spend time with the ace cueist and contribute to a good cause. On the idea behind the movement, Advani opined, "It is a great initiative and gives people an opportunity to contribute to the causes that are close to their heart and I also think it is a perfect way to pay our respects to the father of our nation."
The bidding for a chance to spend time with Advani will begin on eBay on September 30th and closes on October 20th, and the highest bidder will win a lunch and bowling session for two with the Billiards icon and all the proceeds from this will go to CMCA. (PTI)
