Mumbai: Rahul Sarangle, the college teacher accused of sending lewd messages to a student, has faced similar allegations in the past. The student council of Mumbai University (MU) said on that a number of students had approached the body to complain about him. “Whenever we questioned Sarangle about the accusations of harassment, he used to say: ‘You cannot harm me; what evidence do you have?’,” said the secretary of the students’ council, Yatindra Ingle.
“There was little we could do as students rarely provided evidence.” Sarangle (24), a computer hardware teacher at L S Patkar College of Arts & Science in Goregaon (W), allegedly flooded a Std XII student with messages, asking her to have sex with him. He offered to help her clear exams if she agreed to his demand. The Goregaon police have filed an FIR against him, but they haven’t been able to arrest him as he is missing. According to a source, he is hiding in Pune.
