1971 Indo-Pak war hero Lt Gen Jacob passes away

Chandigarh: Lt Gen Jacob(retd), who served as the Chief of Staff Eastern Army Command during the 1971 war with Pakistan passed away today.

He was 93 and credited with negotiating the surrender of Pakistani troops in Dhaka.

He served as the Governor of Punjab and administrator of Chandigarh between November 1999 and November 2003.  

He died after a brief illness at the Army's Research and Referral hospital in Delhi.

'Surrender at Dacca' is written by him, where he explianed the surrender of 90, 000 Pakistani troops.
