3 Myths about Breastfeeding

Breat-milk is the best gift a mom can give her children. Breastmilk provides just the right proportion of essential nutrients, vitamins, proteins, fats and antibodies to help your baby’s organs and brain develop timely. Alot of women are doubtful about breast-feeding their babies these days because of the added benefits of formula milk, mothers shouldn't cut it out of their plans. Here are three myths that might help you in opting for breastfeeding as opposed to formula milk:

* Myth 1: Breastfeeding is painful: While there can be discomfort while your body’s adjusting in the post-partum phase, the discomfort wont last long. There are several ointments, gels and pads to soothe your first few days of discomfort.

* Myth 2: If a baby nurses every hour, it’s a sign that mom isn’t producing enough milk:  Your body works on supply and demand, thus the more you nurse, the more you supply.

* Myth 3: Father's feel left out: While breastfeeding is infact a precious thing that mom will share with baby, there are plenty of non-feeding activities for the dads to use for their own bonding. One big thing is taking care of the baby while the mom gets much-needed sleep!
