AAP workers clean Delhi roads as MCD strike enters day 5

New Delhi: As the indefinite strike by the MCD workers entered its fifth day, AAP volunteers took to roads to clean the garbage off the Delhi roads.

While Delhi ministers Kapil Mishra and Imran Hussain took up the task at Karawal Nagar and Ballimaran areas respectively, deputy CM Manish Sisodia will be seen in action at Patparpanj.

Earlier, Public Works Department set up a task force to clean up the piling garbage across the city. PWD minister Satyendra Jain deployed around 100 trucks with ten workers each to clean up the city.

Meanwhile, Delhi PWD minister Satyendra Jain called for an emergency meeting of North and East MCD Commissioners to discuss the ongoing crisis today as even the doctors from six hospitals and several dispensaries run by the MCD joined the strike on Saturday.

Around 1.5 lakh MCD workers went on a three-day strike on January 28 over non-payment of salaries.

The protesting MCD workers piled up garbage outside deputy CM Manish Sisodia’s office.

State transport and rural development Minister Gopal Rai too faced the fury of the workers who left a mountain of garbage right outside his residence.
