Ace Indian Shuttler Saina Nehwal turns 26 today

Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal turned 26 today. Saina created history by winning a bronze medal at the London Olympics in 2012.

A former world number one, Saina became the first Indian after Prakash Padukone to become world's number one player.

A Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna recepient, Saina is also the only Indian women to win a silver medal at 2015 BWF World Championship.

- Saina owes her success to her parents. Both of them were badminton champions in their native state, Haryana. 

- She has been honoured with Padam Bhushan and Padma Shri awards . 

- Nehwal is not only a badminton player but also has a brown belt in Karate.

- She sought professional assistance in badminton at the age of 8. Although the academy was 50 Km away from home, her family    was extremely supportive and encouraged her to pursue the sport.

- Saina skipped her exams to participate in the Beijing Olympics.
