After a 'transient setback' Karunanidhi's health getting normal, says hospital

New Delhi, July 30, News24 Bureau: DMK chief and patriarch M Karunanidhi's health is improving after a temporary setback, said Chennai's Kauvery Hospital and his family members where the veteran leader is being treated.The supporters are growing restless and the crowd outside is swelling by each passing hour.More than 2,000 police personnel have been deployed outside the Kauvery Hospital in Chennai.DMK chief's daughter Kanimozhi who had stayed at the hospital overnight has said that he is doing good and his well-wishers and party workers should be "brave" in these testing times. Karunanidhi's son and political heir MK Stalin said that there indeed was an unexpected setback in the health of Karunanidhi. But after critical medical care, he is normalising, he said. "A team of doctors is continuously monitoring and treating him. I appeal to the cadres to not indulge in any violence, not obstruct police and not disturb public," he appealed to the supporters. The DMK patriarch's vital signs are normalising after a transient setback in his condition, and he is being closely monitored.Heavy security has been deployed at the hospital and police had to cane the crowd briefly in an attempt to disperse supporters and DMK workers, who shouted slogans in Karunanidhi's praise.The DMK president is being treated for fever due to urinary tract infection and was admitted to Kauvery hospital's Intensive Care Unit on Saturday following a dip in his blood pressure.With Agencies
