AIB roast: Karan Johar summoned for passing 'vulgar' comments

Mumbai (Vinamra Gupta for News24): Bollywood director Karan Johar has been summoned by Tardeo police to record his statement for allegedly passing obscene comments at the controversial 'AIB Knockout' roast comedy show held at Worli in south Mumbai in December 2014.

"He (Karan Johar) was summoned a couple of weeks ago and asked to record his statement in connection with the case," assistant police inspector Suresh Mhaske told News24online.

He informed the police have yet to receive a reply from Johar.

The controversial roast was held at Worli's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium on December 20, 2014. The comic show, which started off with Johar announcing, "Let the filth begin", was uploaded on Youtube on Janaury 28. However, the show was pulled out from the video sharing website after the Maharashtra government initiated a probe into the matter.

Later, in February last year, an FIR was registered against Karan, Ranveer and Arjun, along with other performers, who allegedly passed "abusive and obscene" comments against one another during the show.
