Finally, one of the most talked about weddings of 2018 happened!
Sonam Kapoor, definitely, has the best wardrobe in the Bollywood and we all look up to fashionista’s style each time she makes an appearance. And when it comes to her wedding trousseau, it is unfair not to acknowledge the outfits she has chosen. She went truly traditional - with big motifs, heavy embroidery and gold beadworks. Gold was the central theme and jewelry was also very ethnic. Only her reception lehenga reflected her true identity - the global fashion icon she is.
Here they are order-wise:
* Mehendi Lehenga: Great Lehenga to start the ceremonies with - pastel colors. The Gold, Pink and Purple shades are a great combo and very subtle but celebratory. Minimal jewelery and her hair was open with slight twists on both the sides. We love the way she's kept Sonam's makeup minimal, with kohl rimmed eyes, pink lips and fresh dewy skin. It compliments her bright red lehenga flawlessly .
* Sangeet Lehenga: ‘All that glitters is indeed gold!’ Well, in certain cases! Also, what’s a wedding without heaps of ‘gold’ and glamour? This ivory lehenga of hers is adorned with unique set of motifs and pearls. Around forty different types of stitching techniques have been put to use to create the entire body of the lehenga. Silver and gold zari, pearls, motifs, sequins, Swarovski crystals have been used to create the beauty. The traditional, temple-style jewelry is truly befitting for such an ocassion.
* Wedding Lehenga: The ‘Khoobsurat’ actress looks ethereal in her bridal glory as she dons a red and gold Anuradha Vakil lehenga and heavy traditional jewellery complete with a matha-patti and chooda. The bridal lehenga-choli has been designed by Anuradha Vakil who has also made Kapoor's pastel Mehendi outfit. Kapoor's wedding dress is in traditional deep red color with heavy zardosi work all over it. Her dupatta, as well as lehenga, has beautiful lotus patterns and heavy borders with delicate patti work on the borders. With red, she stood true to tradition and with the embroidery, she just about saluted the rich culture of our country. In a time when she is considered a Global fashion icon, she did great with opting for tradition over a fashion statement.
*Post-Wedding Saree: For her post wedding saree, she went back to pastels. The lightly embroidered saree in pink and purple is a great selection to unwind after the wedding ceremony. Much lighter than her lehenga but just as ornate and celebratory.
* Reception Lehenga: Finally! She went experimental! Kapoor went with a grey and white lehenga by Anamika Khanna. Not one for convention, the star forsake sequins, beadwork and pastels and in turn favoured a pared-down graphic lehenga. In place of a dupatta was a cape jacket.
There’s the charms of bohemia and vintage chic in this gorgeous lehenga by Shehla Khan. Powerful in dusty grey with applique in an almost avant garde manner, this lehenga is not an obvious choice – until the perfect bride wears it and simply rocks the look.
