Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, the wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, was spotted in a yellow Chanderi suit by Indian designer Anita Dongre during her ongoing India trip.
The Canadian prime minister is on an eight-day trip to India with his wife and children Ella-Grace Margaret Trudeau, Hadrien Trudeau and Xavier James Trudeau. After a short trip to the Taj Mahal, the family landed in Ahmedabad where they visited Akshardham temple.
Gregoire made instant headlines and caught the eye of fashion-critics when she appeared in a yellow chanderi suit from Anita's collection. She looked ever-so elegant.
“I was so pleased to see our yellow chanderi suit on the ever-so-elegant Sophie Gregoire Trudeau. It was such a lovely surprise to find that a global personality like hers chose one of our designs,” Dongre told PTI.
Though her designs are uber traditional, focusing on the rich cultural heritage of India - its her choice of silhouettes that can be worn internationally is the reason for her worldwide popularity.
The designer’s outfits were previously worn by various dignitatories such as the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Queen Mathilde of Belgium.
Here are some pictures of them dressed in Dongre's Designs:
Anita Dongre was quickly thrust into the spotlight after Kate donned the pink and green dress on her tour of the country. The dress was priced at Rs14,000. Perfect for a summer outfit.
* Queen Mathilde followed suit with the sapphire blue hue and intricate gold floral jacquard design of this dress, which featured a mandarin collar and a flattering full skirt that finishes at the ankle.
