Video: Apple employee shot dead, CM Yogi assures a CBI inquiry if needed

New Delhi, Sep 29, News24 Bureau: The death of an Apple employee is turning political with allegedly lot of loopholes in the case.  The man, identified as Vivek Tiwari, who was an Apple employee was allegedly shot by police personnel in Lucknow. He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.Kalpana Tiwari, wife of the deceased, asked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take congnisance of the incident."Police had no right to shoot at my husband. I demand UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to come here and talk to me," she said.

The victim, identified as Vivek Tiwari, an employee of Apple, was allegedly shot by a police constable at Gomti Nagar in Lucknow on Friday when he was asked to stop his car on noticing 'suspicious activity'.Anand Kumar, UP ADG Law & Order has reacted to the incident, "This is a sad incident. A case of murder (section 302 IPC) has been registered against the two policemen. Stringent action will be taken. Post mortem report establishes a firearm injury from a bullet on the left side of the chin, viscera of the victim has preserved. Thorough investigation is being conducted to establish the sequence of events." Kalanidhi Naithani, SSP Lucknow said, "SIT has been formed under SP crime. I have personally sent a request to District Magistrate for a magisterial inquiry into the incident. A case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused, However, exact reason of his death -- whether he died of accidental injuries  or bullet injury -- would be confirmed only after post-mortem report."According to police, shots were fired at Tiwari after he allegedly tried to crush police constable's bike.After being hit by the bullet, the victim's car then met with an accident.

"It's a clear case of murder.I've served as a police inspector, I know a person is never shot in the neck. Such an incident never occurred the way it has under Yogi govt: said Tilakraj Tiwari, uncle of deceased of Vivek Tiwari.

Police-constable Prashant Chaudhary has come out with his side of the story when he was brought to the hospital for treatment, "At 2 am last night, I saw a suspicious car with its lights off, when I approached the car, the driver (Vivek Tiwari) tried to run over me thrice to kill me. I fired a bullet in self-defence, he then immediately took off from the spot."

Now a statement has come from the UP CM Yogi Adityanath and he said that an inquiry will be conducted and ruled out the possibilty of an encounter. He even said that the two policemen will be sent to jail. "It was not an encounter. An investigation will be conducted in this incident. If needed, we will order a CBI inquiry into the incident," Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said.
