Army jawan martyred in Kashmir encounter, 1 army man injured

Aasif Suhaf, New Delhi, Oct 25: In Jammu & Kashmir, an army soldier was killed and another wounded in a militant attack in Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district late this evening.Senior army sources said unidentified militants first carried out sniper attack on the main gate of Army Camp at Lurgam Tral area followed by indiscriminate firing upon the soldiers of 42 Rashtriya Rifles manning gate of their camp.One soldier was martyred in the sniper attack and another soldier injured critically during heavy exchange of gunfire between militants and forces.

The injured soldier has been shifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital at Badamibagh cantonment for treatment.There was no report of any fatal or non fatal casualties on the part of militant group that staged attack.A manhunt was launched to nab the attackers. So far no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

The attack seems to be instant reaction to avenge the six killings of militants including four in Arwani Bijbehara Anantnag south Kashmir and two in Kreeri Baramulla North Kashmir today. Yesterday, two Hizbul militants including scholar turned top militant Sabzar Sofi were killed in an encounter in Nowgam area of Srinagar outskirts.
