New Delhi: ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is dead. The ISIS leaders are gathering for a crisis meeting to choose his successor, say reports from Iraq. It is reported that Baghdadi was killed in the ongoing battle for Mosul. His death, though, has not been confirmed by either Iraqi forces or the ISIS jihadists.
Reports quoting sources from Human Rights groups in Iraq say that the jihadists leaders have been asked to withdraw from the war and collect at a secret place to the finalise the Baghdadi’s replacement.
That Baghdadi has been not seen for months, is fuelling reports about his death. He was last seen in September, moving under heaved armed guard.
Last month, in an audio release, Baghdadi had asked his fighters not to withdraw and “victory will be ours”. (News24Bureau)
