New Delhi, Jan 23: PM Narendra Modi has made a bumper offer for the youth looking for a job. Railways has announced 2.5 lakh new vacancies. These jobs are apart from the ones for which the recruitment process is already on. If the ongoing recruitment drive is included, total number of railway jobs go up to almost 4 lakh in the next 2 years.
The new 2.5 lakh jobs, to be created over next two years, for will have 10% quota for the upper castes. This is what makes the announcement
important. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that it will be first major recruitment drive with 10% quota for upper caste EWS.
The new recruitments will be done in two phases. The first phase, between February-March, 2019, will be completed by April-May, 2020. This will entail 1,31,428 railway posts. The second phase,between May-June 2020, will be completed by July-August, 2021. This will cover 99,000.
With new 10% quota for, the total reserved posts in the 2.3 lakh will be- nearly 34,000, 17,000 and 62,000 posts for SC, ST and OBC candidates. Around 23,000 jobs will be reserved for upper castes.
The jobs will be in for different posts. Eligibility norms will vary from certification from Industrial Training Institutes or Diploma/above in Engineering or Graduation in any discipline, depending on the posts.
