Bihar BJP vice-president Visheshwar Ohja shot dead; Modi, Paswan criticize CM Nitish

Patna: In a shocking incident, a top Bharatiya Janata Party leader Visheshwar Ohja, was on Friday evening shot dead by unidentified men in Bihar's Bhojpur district, police informed.

The vice president of the state Bharatiya Janata Party, Ojha, was attacked near a village about 60 kms from Patna. About 10-12 gunmen, in cars and bikes, rode up to the minister, who was returning after attending a marriage ceremony in his SUV, and shot him dead.

In the tragic incident, two other people were also injured, and therefore have been admitted to the hospital. The condition all-around the area is tense with the BJP supporters blocking the National Highway. Sensing the gravity of the situation, heavy police force has been deployed.

Meanwhile, BJP state president Mangal Pandey and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi denounced the murder.

Modi accused chief minister Nitish Kumar of letting the criminals go out of control. “Chief Minister's will to control crime has come to an end. He is only attending meetings to control law and order,” he alleged.

LJP leader Chirag Paswan, too didn’t shy away from hitting out at Kumar. “Law and order has completely failed in Bihar, a streak of political killings has started in our state,” he said, adding that there is President’s rule available as an option.

Party sources revealed that earlier in morning, another BJP leader Kedarnath Singh was shot dead in Chhapra.
