New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata party on Thursday announced Sarbananda Sonowal as the chief ministerial candidate for the Assam elections, scheduled to be held later this year.
"I want to thank PM Modi and Amit Shah, I am grateful to them. I believe people of Assam will elect us to power in upcoming Assam assembly elections," said a humble Sonowal upon being chosen as the CM candidate.
The announcement by BJP was made in a function, which was attended by prime minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah.
The saffron party seems to have given a thought to its strategy. After an overwhelming victory in the Lok Sabha Elections, the party, chose to contest the elections without a face, except in Delhi. However, the not-so-good results in Jammu & Kashmir and Bihar has got the Bharatiya Janata Party thinking.
