New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday arrested Kolkata Businessman Parasmal Lodha for allegedly converting over Rs. 25 crore old currency into new notes. This is in connection associated huge cash seizure from Chennai sand mining baron J Shekhar Reddy and Delhi-based lawyer Rohit Tandon.
The arrest throws light on the extent of black money conversion racket. On Wednesday IT had raided Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary in connection with seizure of Rs 180 crore cash and 177 kg gold from J Shekhar Reddy few days ago. On Wednesday, CBI had arrested Reddy and his associate K Srinivasulu.
Lodha was earlier detained from Mumbai airport after it came to light that the 13 crore retrieved from the office of lawyer Rohit Tandon belonged to Parasmal Lodha.
Lodha had recently organised a lavish wedding ceremony in Delhi on his daughters marriage. The wedding was attended by top bureaucrats, politicians and many Bolloywood stars. (News24Bureau)
