SC cancels counselling by Pvt medical colleges in MP

New Delhi: Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled the admission counselling done for undergraduate courses by the private medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh. SC has ordered the private medical colleges to conduct fresh counselling within a week as per state government norms.
The MP government had filed a contempt of court plea against the private medical colleges. In the plea state contended that these colleges were not admitting students as per the centralised counselling being conducted by the state government. This, the MP government said, was "wilful and deliberate disobedience of top court's May 2 verdict".
The SC on September 14 had ordered status quo in the admission to undergraduate medical courses in private medical institutes in MP.
