IT notice to Cong neta's wife for buying Rs 6 cr jewellery from Nirav Modi

New Delhi, Feb 20: Income Tax Department on Tuesday issued a notice a notice to Anita Singhvi, wife of Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi, for buying jewellery worth Rs 6 crore from Nirav Modi. Modi is at centre of the  Rs 11,400 crore PNB scam.

It is being alleged that of the Rs 6 core payments, only Rs 1.5 crore was via cheque, the balance was paid with unaccounted money. The allegations are based on entries in diaries and invoice records maintained by Nirav Modi. The payments are dated May 20 and August 21 in 2014, and january 17 in 2015.

Reacting to the notice, Abhishek Manu Singhvi alluded that it was a political vendetta. " IT has sent questionnaire which wl be answered in accordance with law. All supporting docs wl be produced. But (a) has notice been sent to all others on that list or only one who happens to be in Cong party (b) whose computer seized on which date and how many names on list?," tweeted Singhvi.
