Mumbai: Wage gap between male and female actors has always been a talk of the town. But global star Deepika Padukone is out to write her own terms and to change the ideology with her upcoming movie.
If reports are to be believed, Deepika's remuneration for Bhansali's magnum opus is way higher than her main lead actors Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. According to media reports, the story revolves around Padmavati which is played by Deepika, thus she is being paid comparatively more than the lead actors in the movie.
As stated in a leading daily,"As for the remuneration, Deepika has taken home a whopping 13 crore, while Ranveer and Shahid share equal digits that read close to 10 crores respectively.”
Earlier, Deepika featured on Forbes's list of highest paid female actors in the world in the year 2016. However, 'Mastani' dropped out of the list in 2017 which is now led by Hollywood actor Emma Stone.
In the period drama film 'Padmavati', Deepika will portray the titular role of Rani Padmini whereas, Ranveer will play Alauddin Khilji and Shahid will be seen as Rawal Ratan Singh. The movie is slated to hit the theaters in April next year.
