New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday will hear the bail plea of JNU student’s union president Kanhiya Kumar in the sedition case filed against him.
Kanhiya Kumar, who has been accused of raising anti-national slogans during an event held against the hanging of Parliamentary attack convict Afzal Guru in the varsity, was brought to Tihar Jail on February 19.
Kumar’s lawyers had earlier approached the Supreme Court for the bail, but were asked by the apex court to approach the high court.
Meanwhile, the students, Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya, Ashutosh Kumar, Rama Naga and Anant Prakash Narayanan resurfaced on the JNU campus on late Sunday night, after the police declared them absconding.
All the students said that they would “surrender peacefully” if and when the police come to take them.
