New Delhi, Jan 18: The Election Commission today announced the schedule for Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland assembly elections. The term of the Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura legislative assemblies is ending on March 6, March 13 and March 14 respectively.
Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura all have 60 seats each. EVM and VVPAT will be used in all three states, first level checks have been completed," informed CEC AK Joti in Delhi.
"Model code of conduct comes into effect from today," CEC AK Joti in Delhi on Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura legislative assembly elections.
The strength of the three assemblies is 60 members each.
Here are the main highlights:
-Election to states to happen in two rounds. Tripura will vote on February 18. 2017 (Sunday), while Meghalaya and Nagaland will vote on February 27 (Tuesday). Counting for all three states will be conducted on March 3, 2018. The results will be declared on the same day.
-The limit of election expenditure in all the three states shall be Rs 20 lakh per candidate.
- Model Code of Conduct comes into force with immediate effect in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
