Fate of India-Pakistan talks to be decided today

New Delhi: After the detention of "several individuals" of the dreaded Jaish-e-Mohammad which is suspected to have engineered the Pathankot attack, External Affairs officials said on Wednesday that decision on India, Pakistan Foreign Secretary-level talks will be made only after National Security Advisor Ajit Doval returns from Paris on Thursday.

Statement from MEA came after a two-hour meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

On Wedensday, reports from Islamabad said that JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar was also detained.

Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif ensured a fair probe in the attack, after India demanded action, linking it to the fate of Foreign Secretary-level talks.

In the night, the Pakistani government followed up with another announcement of setting up a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) comprising security and military officials to probe whether any Pakistani individual or organisation was involved in the Pathankot attack on January 2.
