Five all-women PCR vans launched in Delhi

New Delhi, March 9: Delhi Police on Thursday launched five all-women PCR vans on International Women's Day to ensure women's safety in the capital.

"Women feel easier in communicating with women police and narrate their grievances without hesitation," Special Commissioner of Police (Women Safety and Operations) Sanjay Baniwal said in a statement.

Twenty-seven women police personnel, trained in firing and unarmed combat, will be deployed at Vishwavidyalaya, Delhi University, Rajeev Chowk, LSR College, and Sri Venkateswara College.

"These PCR vans will instil a sense of confidence in persons who approach them in distress," he added.
