From ‘Fair & Lovely’ to ‘Babbar Sher’, Rahul Gandhi takes Modi’s policies for a spin

New Delhi: Embedded with a vigour unseen before, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched a straight attack at Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha over a range of issues, and to an extent destroyed all brouhaha over the NDA government’s ‘Make in India’ and the amnesty scheme policy in dealing with ‘Black Money’.

Congress vice president touted the amnesty scheme, declared in the Budget 2016 by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, as ‘Fair & Lovely’ — one from which people stashing undisclosed income and assets in India can come out clean by paying a tax of 45% to the government.

“Modi ji had promised that he will put people with black money behind bars, now they have come up with way to save those people,” Rahul said. When PM Modi walked into the Parliament, he further added: “Namaskar, apne suna nahin, fair and lovely yojna ke baare mein bol raha tha.”

Rahul Gandhi then went on to make a mockery of ‘Make in India’. He alleged that the policy is all hype and the people are still jobless.

“The icon of ‘Babbar Sher’ was prepared. Wherever I see, there’s ‘babbar sher’ — in television, advertisements, internet. They showed ‘babbar sher’, I ask how many people got job?” he enquired. “Modi ji had promised jobs. But in all my rallies, when I put this question, people say No!”
