Ganesh Chaturthi Alights in India

One of the most celebrated festivals of India, marking the birth of Lord Ganesha, Ganesh Chaturthi has arrived with much fanfare in 2016.

Mumbai's Lalbaugcha Raja is the most famous Ganpati darshan where devotees come in large numbers to get a glimpse of their beloved deity.

The rituals consist of morning and evening 'aartis' and Prasad offered to Lord Ganesha. They are performed over a period of 10 days. After this period, the statues are carried across the city and the statues are immersed in the water bodies. The devotees sing songs and prayers in the name of Ganesha as the idols are carried to the sea and immersed.

The dietes are immersed with much love and adoration and asked to return the following year.
