Gangsters kill youth, dance near body in Punjab's Longowal

Sangrur (Pb), Feb 16: Four assailants today shot dead a youth at Longowal town near here, police said. The deceased has been identified as Hardev Singh Happy (25), police said.

A case of murder had been registered in this connection and probe is on, police said, adding it has not ruled out rivalry between the two groups. 

The 25-year-old financier was shot dead in the main market of Longowal, Sangrur. The youth was shot dead by a group of five gangsters led by Dalvinder Singh, alias Babli Randhawa. 

Dalvinder Singh was released on bail from jail recently in a different case.

According to sources, the financier had lent Rs 5 lakh to Babli and there was dispute between the two over the money.

After hitting five bullets into the head of the victim, Hardev Singh, the gangsters made sure that he was dead and then celebrated near his body by dancing. The gangster and others in his gang said they challenge the police to arrest them. 

The spine chilling incident has sent shockwaves in the area. Shopkeepers downed the shutters of their shops as an expression of anger over the poor law and order situation.
