New Delhi: Marking two years of Narendra Modi Government, Amitabh Bachchan spoke on the segement 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' in an event - 'Zara Muskura Do' (Smile Please)- organised here at India gate on Saturday.
"We should work towards removing the gender gap prevalent in our society. Daughter and sons should get equal rights," said Amitabh Bachchan.
"It is time that we realise that half the population of the country can't be left behind. Our growth is intrinsically connected to the development of women," added Bachchan.
While answering a girl who asked Mr Bachchan how did he became Big B, he replied, There is no such thing called Big B. All you need to do is work hard and keep yourself focused towards your goals in life.
"Please don't think of women as the weaker gender. If we are talking about inner-strength, then they are far stronger than men," he said.
The government has organised the event which will have several performances and programmes highlighting its "achievements".
Many schemes and programmes, in particular the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Digital India and Rural Electrification, will be highlighted during the show.
