Goddess wears a 22 kg gold designer sari worth Rs 6.5 crore in Kolkata

New Delhi, Sep 26: Durga Puja in Kolkata is very different from the Puja in North India. In Kolkata Durga puja is more about gaity an grandeur and less about the rituals. While the Northern part of the country observes fasts in Navratri, in Durgo Puja in Bengal and neighbouring states, it is more about feasts.

And therefore indulgence and grandeur, which earmark Kolkata Pujo is seen in every nook and corner. A Kolkata-based fashion designer Agnimitra Paul along with 50 artisans has made has made an extravagant outfit for Goddess Durga. It took her more than 90 days to make this outfit. 

Using more than 22kg of 22-carat gold, artisans from Bengal crafted a beautiful sari with intricate embroidery. Not just that, all the idols in the pandal are wearing Haute Couture by Agnimitra Paul for the club’s 82nd celebrations. Ma Durga's sari is most exquisite as it is made of pure gold!
