Ahmedabad, Oct 28: Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convenor Hardik Patel seems to be running out of patience with the Congress. On Saturday, Hardik issued an ultimatum to the Congress to clear its stand on reservation to Patidars. Patel threatened to disrupt Congress poll rallies if the party did not announce its stand by Novemeber 3.
"Congress should clarify its stand on granting constitutional reservation to Patidars by November 3, 2017, or else there will be incidents like the one at Amit Shah's rally in Surat," tweeted Patel.
What Hardik was referring to are the several incidents where his supporters has disrupted press conferences and events of BJP leaders. In one such event hardik supporters barged into a Surat venue where Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani and BJP President Amit Shah were due to meet Patidar community leaders. The PAAS activists had then shouted slogan and broke the furniture. In another incident Hardik supporters had disrupted BJP President's Gujarat Gaurav Yatra'.
Congress is courting Hardik for an alliance to take on the BJP in the state. The Patidar leader has already discussed alliance possibilities with Congress poll in-charge Ashok Gehlot. PAAS wants Patidars to be provided OBC reservation or getting the community included in Constitution's 9th Schedule. Hardik has refused to accept reservation under the economically backward class category.
