In a spine-chilling incident that took place in Delhi, Mukherjee Nagar, a cab driver ran over a four-old boy and then reportedly spent the next five hours with the victim driving him all across the national capital with the victim's mother.
The driver allegedly tried to convince the victim's mother not to report the matter to police and lodge an FIR against him. All this while, the cab driver visited nearly 5 hospital and told the grieving mother that none of the hospital is ready to admit the boy.
As the boy did not receive any medical aid for 5 hours, he succumbed to his injuries inside the cab.
The 32-year-old cab driver Rahul was later arrested.
The mother said, “We were going from one hospital to another. Those were five hours of horror. Now my other 3 children are asking about Rohit but what do I tell them? How do I tell them that they will never see Rohit again now.”
According to police, The incident took place on Friday evening. They said Rohit was playing outside his Indira Vikas Colony home when the Eeco cab hit him while reversing. As a crowd gathered, the cabbie offered to take the boy and his mom to hospital. But once inside the car, Rahul kept trying to negotiate with Vasanti and even allegedly threatened her. Vasanti said she initially thanked Rahul for offering to take her child to hospital.Vasanti said the man then took the car to a private hospital, went inside and came out saying that they would not admit the child."He drove us around for five hours and took us to four other hospitals including the AIIMS Trauma Center and Hindu Rao hospital. Each time, he went in and returned with the same answer," she said.
