Indian skies have been locked in a fare battle as all the airlines are trying to woo their customers with discounted fares on a regular basis. Analysts believe that this battle is leading to lower fares. Domestic air passenger traffic rose 15.15 percent to 91.34 lakh in April, according to data from aviation regulator DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation).
Under Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, the economy class has become cheaper as the tax rate has fallen from 6% TO 5%. However, the business class fares have become more expensive as the tax rate rose from 9% to 12%.
