New Delhi: Dismissing speculations that the government is having second thoughts on appointing him as the brand ambassador of ‘Incredible India’ or ‘Atulya Bharat’, Amitabh Bachchan on Tuesday clarified that he is not been formally approached for this position.
"There have been queries from the media regarding my being Brand Ambassador for 'Atulya Bharat' (Incredible India). I wish to state that I have not been formally approached for this position.
"The speculation of the media regarding its discontinuance is, therefore, not relevant as far as I am concerned," the 73-year-old actor said in a statement.
Earlier, on Monday, news agency ANI quoted an unidentified Tourism Ministry source, who informed that Amitabh Bachchan’s engagement for the ‘Incredible India’ campaign was kept on hold after his name appeared on the list of tax evaders in Panama Papers leak.
