I’m in no hurry to take over as CM, says Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar: Hinting at forming government with the BJP, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti at a meeting of the core party members on Sunday said that she was in no hurry to take over as the chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir.

The core members of the group also authorized the party president to take the final call on forming government in the state.

“The core group has authorised party president Mehbooba to take whatever decision on it (government formation),” said PDP leader Naeem Akhtar said after the marathon 5-hour meeting of the party’s core group.

While the party members said that they haven’t set any conditions for government formation with BJP, they refused to set any deadline too.

A senior leader, who was present at the meeting, said that she would take over as the chief minister only when she’s convinced that she can translate her father’s vision into reality. “Mehbooba made it clear at the meeting of the party’s Core Group that she is not in a hurry to form the government or become the chief minister of the state,” he said.

Meanwhile, the state of Jammu & Kashmir continues to be under Governor’s rule, which was imposed on January 8, a day after former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away.
