New Delhi, Jan 7: Cricketer-turned politician and chief of the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan has secretly married a woman he used to visit for spiritual guidance, a local newspaper reported on Saturday. Mufti Saeed, a PTI core committee member, performed the wedlock on January 1, revealed a report.
The report further claimed that Imran came in touch with the woman a few year ago.
The PTI chairperson began 2018 by tying the knot with the woman on the night of January 1 in Lahore and came straight from there the next day to appear before the anti-terrorism court in Islamabad that granted him bail," reported English daily The News.
Saeed had also performed Khan's nikah when he entered into his second marriage with Reham Khan, a TV anchorperson, on January 8, 2015.
Monday's ceremony took place at the residence of a close confidante of the bride who is said to be Khan's friend.
The bride reportedly had filed for the dissolution of her first marriage with a government servant few months ago. Her former husband said that they opted for separation "for spiritual reasons". He, however, denied his ex-wife has married Khan.
Khan had first tied the knot with Jemima Goldsmith on May 16, 1995, which ended in divorce after nine years on June 22, 2004. His second marriage was with Reham, which lasted only 10 months.
PTI leaders, however, denied the reports of their chief's third marriage. "Ridiculous! When SC deprives IK's detractors from doing accusatory stories of corruption, they create stories of his 'marriage'! Somewhat pathetic too!" tweeted Dr Shireen Mazari, PTI's chief whip.
