Kolkata: The campaign for the sixth phase of the West Bengal Election 2021 is in full swing in Birbhum district.
Meanwhile, Mallarpur village in Birbhum district of West Bengal was shaken by an explosion at the house of a local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader.
The house of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Anarul Sheikh of Banashpur village in Mallarpur was shaken by a loud explosion at around 9 pm on Monday.
The villagers rushed to the scene as soon as they heard the noise. They reportedly saw that a person named Jarman Sheikh was seriously injured in the blast.
Mallarpur police rushed to the spot after receiving the news of the blast. The injured were rescued. The police also arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Anarul Sheikh.
The police initially estimated that bombs were being prepared at the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader's house and that's when the bomb exploded.
However, the police are investigating whether a stockpiled bomb exploded or the bomb exploded while being made.
Meanwhile, the villagers claim that the injured Jarman Sheikh has died due to his injuries.
Meanwhile, Birbhum BJP district secretary Atanu Chattopadhyay claimed that the bombs were being planted to create terror in the area.
"It was reported to the police more than once but no action was taken. This would not have happened if the police had taken action," the BJP leader said.
On the other hand, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership has denied such allegations.
