Indian soldier who hoisted Indian Tricolour at Lahore police station!

New Delhi: The daring attack by the Indian Special Forces commandos across LoC in PoK reminds one of the daredevil act of Brigadier Hari Singh Deora during the 1965 Indo-Pak War.

While commanding the 18 Cavalry in the 1965 war, Commander Deora’s unit hoisted Indian flag at Lahore’ Barki police station. His unit had reached within 6 miles of Lahore. The unit was later called back, but not before it ensured surrender of Pakistan soldiers.
He was then promoted to the rank of Brigadier, and decorated with AVSM by the then President VV Giri.
