New Delhi: The Haryana government on Tuesday officially announced to rename its Gurgaon district to Gurugram district.
The district, which is the financial and industrial hub of the country, used to be known as Gurugram in ancient times, said the Gurgaon district's official website.
It claimed that the name was distorted over a course of time.
The state government also decided to change the name of Mewat district to Nuh. Like Gurugram, Nuh is the ancient name of Mewat district.
