New Delhi: Raising a curtain of suspense over government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, the core group of Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday said that Mehbooba Mufti will take the final call in deciding the fate of PDP-BJP alliance.
“Core group of the party has authorized Mehbooba Mufti ji to take a call on government formation with BJP in Jammu and Kashmir,” Naeem Akhtar, a senior party leader said after the end of meeting.
“There is no timeline, focus is on the agenda that was set during Mufti ji time & Mehbooba ji will take final call on this,” he added.
The decision from the party came in a crucial meet of senior leaders and functionaries which began earlier today in Srinagar: a first of such official meet presided by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti after the death of her father and chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.
Earlier today, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah conferred that PDP has created an uncertainty in Jammu and Kashmir government formation, and “if a proposal comes from BJP, we will consider it.”
Soon thereafter, former chief minister Omar Abdullah downplayed his father’s statement: “He hasn't sought an alliance nor assured any support, only consideration and discussion.”
