New Delhi, Dec 29: After ruling the telecom industry since its launch, Reliance Jio has some big plans for 2018 and if reports to be believed, the company will hit e-retailing sector which is now ruled by Amazon and Flipkart in India.
So Reliance has decided to battle in this field next year, for this the company chosen to ally with the traditional retail (kirana stores). Riding on the success of Reliance Jio, Ambani's plan is to storm the retail sector in 2018.
Reliance Jio has already started a pilot project in Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad of its 'digital coupons' model. In this strategy shoppers, Jio subscribers are given digital coupons of different brands on its Jio Money platform or through text messages which can be redeemed for discounts on these products.
The aim behind this is to link the brands, kirana shops and consumers with growing Jio network and it will easily spread like fire in the hinterlands while various e-commerce giants are still years away to connect to all small towns and villages and it will also help in digitalisation in India.
