Jio effect: This company to launch its own Rs 2500 4G smartphone before Diwali

Pancham Saude, New Delhi: First, it was Idea-Intex plan to counter the JioPhone for which pre-booking has already started but now it seems Jio will have another competitor soon. As per the media reports, now Airtel has planned to launch its handset by this Diwali at a price tag of Rs 2500.

Earlier Airtel had made it clear that it has no plans to launch its handset to counter the JioPhone but now latest media report suggests that the company is in talks with handset makers to manufacture a smartphone that is expected to have a bigger screen, better camera and better battery performance and most important apps like WhatsApp that JioPhone lacks.

Earlier Jio announced a 4G feature phone 'JioPhone' that would effectively cost Rs 0 to its users as the company had promised to refund the booking amount of Rs 1500 after 3years, with this move the company is targeting the 500 million feature phone users in India who can't afford to buy a high-end phone that supports 4G.

So to counter this, Airtel has reportedly joined hands with domestic handset makers-Lava and Karbonn and planning to launch this phone by September-end or during the early October.
