JioPhone shocker..Big SECRET revealed

New Delhi, Sep 27: The pre-booking of JioPhone have started again. With just Rs 500 you can book the phone across its retail stores, website and Jio App, according to a message sent out by Reliance Jio.

"India Ka Smartphone is finally here! Pre-booking for JioPhone starts Sep 24 at 5 pm," an SMS sent to a Jio customer read.

The 6 million customers who have already booked the device will get it by this Diwali which falls on October 19, and customers will be alerted with an SMS regarding the status of the JioPhone delivery.

A leading channel partner of Reliance Retail, which did not wish to be named, said the messages are being sent to all those who have registered their interest in JioPhone.

"As announced by RIL CMD (Mukesh Ambani), JioPhone will be given against payment of fully-refundable deposit of Rs 1,500. Customers will be able to book JioPhone for Rs 500 and the balance Rs 1,000 can be paid at the time of delivery in September. The total amount will be refunded after 36 months when the customer returns the phone," the partner said.

But now it seems that it will cost more for people who thought of returning the device after 3 years and get the refund, as the company has added one condition for the refund. To get the refund buyer must spend at least of Rs 4500 on recharges to get the refund of Rs 1500 after 3 years. Whereas at the time of unveiling JioPhone, it was introduced effectively free, after a security deposit of Rs. 1,500.

'Mandatory' recharges

The JioPhone is available for continued use on the Recipient purchasing telecom recharge vouchers of an Authorized Carrier (presently Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited) from the Company or any of its authorized retailers for use in the JioPhone of a minimum value of Rs. 1,500/- per annum for a period of 3 years from the date of the first issue of the JioPhone." T&C on Jio.com reads.

So the buyer must do a compulsory recharge of Rs 1500 per year in 3 years to get the refund of Rs 1500, and if the buyer fails to do so Reliance Jio reserves the right to ask the customer to return the handset.
