J&K: Three terrorists killed in Baramulla encounter


New Delhi, Aasif Suhaf, Jan 23: In Jammu & Kashmir, three terrorists were killed in a fierce encounter with a joint team of security forces in Binner village of North Kashmir's Baramulla district today afternoon.

Police said the security forces started an operation against the terrorists in Binner village in the morning, leading to the killings.

Defence Ministry sources confirmed the deaths and said searches were going on in the area.

Authorities have suspended mobile Internet services in Baramulla district.

Security sources said that a joint team of army, J&K Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Binner village in the outskirts of Baramulla district on the basis of inputs about the presence of terrorists.

As the forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire triggering off a gunfight.

Security sources said that post gunfight search and sanitization operation is going on to clear the area of any left out explosives and ammunition.


Terrorists have been identified as Suhaib Farooq Akhoon, Mohsin Mushtaq Bhat & Nasir Ahmad Darzi. All 3 were affiliated to Lashkar-e-Toiba.
