New Delhi: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear an urgent plea seeking action against those involved in violence in the Patiala House court complex.
A bench headed by Justice TS Thakur agreed to hear the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on Wednesday after journalists moved to the apex court protesting over the attack on students and journalists in the court complex.
The petition filed by JNU alumnus ND Jaiprakash sought action against those involved in violence and over the "inaction" on the part of the Delhi Police.
The petition also demanded that the security measures in the court complex should be such that no person becomes victim of violence.
The petition said the violence witnessed in the court not only endangered the life of JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, but also prevented journalists from carrying out their work of reporting court proceedings.
It also sought direction to ensure that the court is free of persons causing physical harm, any form of intimidation or any disturbance.
