Kashmir: Security beefed up after separatists call for shutdown

Srinagar: Heavy security arrangements were made in several parts of Kashmir valley after "separatists" called for shutdown protesting against the deaths of two youths in Pulwama district on Sunday. Police and paramilitary forces in full riot gear were deployed in areas falling under the jurisdiction of six police stations - Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Maharajgunj, Maisuma and Safakadal. Police had to impose restrictions and as a result shops and other business establishments remained closed. Earlier, self-proclaimed "separatist" leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Yasin Malik had called for a Valley-wide protest shutdown.
