Kashmir town hall burnt hours before oath taking

Aasif Suhaf, New Delhi, Oct 29: Town Hall Shopian Goes Up In Flames hours Before Oath Ceremony of newly elected corporators.On the eve of oath ceremony of newly elected twelve newly elected corporators on Tuesday, the Town Hall Shopian went up in flames in South Kashmir.Reports reaching here said the fire started from the Town Hall’s Record Room at around 8 pm. By the time, the firefighters reached the spot; the entire building was caught in the fire.Shopian Municipality has 17 wards. In five wards, no application of nomination came, the authorities said. In the remaining 12 wards, migrant Kashmir Pandits filed the nominations on BJP mandate. Since there was no opposition from anybody, they were all declared winners unopposed.

                          Although there are no official version on the cause of fire but as per sources the building was set on fire by unidentified persons to disturb tomorrow's Oath taking ceremony of newly elected corporators.Official said that case has been registered by the police and investigation taken up to find out the real cause of fire.There was no requirement for an election because 12 candidates were declared winners unopposed and five had no candidate at all.
