New Delhi: Launching an all-out attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind accused him of declaring “emergency” in the national capital after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Dinesh Mohaniya was arrested today in the middle a news conference.
Mr Mohaniya, the legislator from Sangam Vihar, was booked by the Delhi Police for allegedly misbehaving with a group of women on Wednesday after they had gone to the MLA's residence-cum-office to complain about irregular water supply in the area.
Mr Mohaniya, who is also the vice chairman of Delhi Jal Board, was picked up by a police team while addressing a news conference at his office in Khanpur in South Delhi.
Meanwhile, Mohaniya dismissed the charges against him as “baseless”.
“I am ready to cooperate with the police investigation but the allegations against me are baseless,” he said.
Mohaniya found himself in trouble on Friday as well when another case was registered against him at Govindpuri police station for allegedly slapping a 60-year-old man in Tughlakabad area.
In a statement, the legislator said, “All the allegations against me are not only false, but also part of a larger conspiracy.”
