As authorities on Thursday started counting votes in Kerala, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today completed 1,827 days in office -- a record for a five-year term in the state.
Earlier, the Congress veteran reiterated that exit polls predicting his defeat would be proved wrong and he would retain power.
Mr Chandy has emerged as the first chief minister in Kerala to hold the top seat for the most number of days at one stretch.
His predecessor and the opposition leader in Kerala, VS Achuthanandan held the post of chief minister for 1,822 days. Mr Achuthanandan, 93, is the state leader for Communist Party of India (Marxist).
